A perfume is a liquid solution that is created with a pleasing scent that can either be sprayed on or applied on the skin. Alcohol-based and oil-based perfumes are the two general types of perfume manufactured these days. Alcohol-based perfumes are the most rampant type of perfume. Around 80% of the available perfumes are alcohol-based – from pure scented perfumes, toilet perfumes, and light colognes. Meanwhile, oil-based perfumes are commonly used by people whose skin gets easily irritated by alcohol. In some instances, the scent of oil-based perfume tends to last longer than alcohol-based ones yet oil-based perfume is more expensive than alcohol-based perfume.

Selecting which of the two types to buy depends on your own preferences. More often than not, consumers do not really mind the difference among the two. What they give consideration in buying perfume is the scent it provides when they wear it. Depending on the standards of scent, consumers choose the fragrance that perfectly smells good on them.

There are several scents of perfume yet the most common ones are floral and citrus. From the name itself, floral perfume smells similar to that of a fragrant flower. Applying floral perfume in your skin smells like wearing a bouquet of fresh flowers around your neck. This type of scent ranks first among the scent choices of consumers.

Next in line is the citrus perfume. Citrus perfume smells fruity and tangy which usually creates a smell of an acidic fruit like orange or lemon. Citrus perfume is known to provide a fresh and relaxing odor when worn.
